Korea Maritime & Ocean University and POSCO FLOW sign a memorandum of cooperation on maritime logistics
The Korea Maritime & Ocean University (KMOU), South Korea (through its President Doh Deog Hee) signed an industry-university cooperation agreement with POSCO FLOW Inc., South Korea (through its CEO Kim Kwang Soo). POSCO FLOW is a company that was reborn in 2022 to integrate the logistics of the POSCO Group.
The cooperation agreement ceremony held on June 7 on the KMOU training ship Hannara was attended by key personnel from both organizations, including the KMOU President Doh Deog Hee and POSCO FLOW CEO Kim Kwang Soo. Korea Shipowners’ Association’s Managing Director Cho Bong Gi also attended the ceremony.
According to the agreement, the two organizations will cooperate in the areas including, but not limited to, maritime logistics industry technology development and educational program operation. The agreement also involves developing the maritime logistics industry through information exchange and industry-university cooperation to nurture maritime logistics talent and promote mutual growth.
POSCO FLOW plans to provide KMOU students with field training by running an employment-linked internship program in the future. This agreement is expected to attract university members’ attention as it involves not only overall industry development but also employment in a company linked to maritime logistics, one of the major fields that KMOU students enter after completing their studies.
POSCO FLOW CEO Kim Kwang Soo stated, “We have signed an agreement to raise talented students capable of demonstrating their capabilities not only in the logistics industry in Korea but also globally.” He added, “We will view today as an opportunity to strive to build a model for nurturing talent that can contribute to the development of the maritime logistics field.”
KMOU President Doh Deog Hee said, “The importance of nurturing future talent cannot be emphasized enough. Multidisciplinary talent is especially essential.” He also stated, “We are one step closer to producing outstanding marine talent, thanks to the agreement with POSCO FLOW.”
POSCO FLOW actively operates the domestic and overseas logistics forwarding business for group companies, including POSCO, as well as for general customers.
