KMOU held a symposium on the Arctic Sea Route at Busan City Council Hall on Oct. 2nd. Under the theme of ‘New Silk Road, Our Action Plans for Arctic Sea Route?’ the symposium was co-sponsored by KMOU, Busan Metropolitan City and Busan City Council, and was attended by interested parties including President Park Han-il (KMOU), Minister Youn Jin-Suk (Ministry of Fisheries and Oceans), the honorable Moosung Kim and Ha Tae-Kyung (Members of the National Assembly).
The event consisted of the following contents:
△ Special lecture on ‘Russian Government Policy on the Northern Sea’ (Arkadiy Olovyannikov, Professor of Maritime State University, Russia)
△ Keynote speech on ‘Current Government Policy on the Nothern Sea’ (Kim Yang-su, Director General for Ocean Industries, the Ministry of Fisheries and Oceans)
△ Presentation on ‘Northern Sea Route and Harbor Policy’ (Kim Jeong-Won, Director of Ports and Logistics Planning, Busan Port Authority)
△ Presentation on ‘Technical Subject on Northern Sea Route Shipping Vessel’ (Choi Kyung-Sik, Professor, KMOU) and
△ Presentation on ‘Related Regulations on Vessels Navigating the Arctic Sea Route' (Ha Tae-Bum, Director of New Growth Research Division, Korean Register of Shipping)
President Park Han-il of KMOU commented, "It was such a valuable opportunity to invite domestic and international experts on the issue and examine our strategies on ‘the arctic sea route’ from a practical perspective." (International Affairs and Education Center)
