Korea Maritime University (KMU) was recently awarded first prize at “the Annual Assessment of Korea Energy and Mineral Resources Engineering Program of 2012,” which was organized by the Ministry of Knowledge & Economy and conducted by the Overseas Resources Development Committee.
The Dept. of Energy and Resources Engineering at KMU was selected as one of the college departments specializing in resources development in 2009 by the Ministry of Knowledge and Economy. Since then the executive agency of the department for Korea Energy and Mineral Resources Engineering Program (head Prof. Yoon Ji-ho) has promoted various projects including supporting undergraduate and graduate students, increasing the number of faculty members, and building educational infrastructure with the aim of training global experts in the field of mineral resources.
KMU, surpassing Seoul National University and Hanyang University at the assessment, kicked off this year’s program with the total operating expenses of 1.19 billion Won including additional support of 170 million Won.
